birthdays

this week has seen two important birthdays.
the independent newspaper is 20 years old, and fox news celebrates 10 years.

the independent is a paper that revels in its position of being the freethinking quality newspaper. sometimes this is annoying as it will have several different viewpoints on the same subject in the same issue. it is has always been a paper that has embraced good quality design and journalism. it was the first of the qualities to move to tabloid (only the daily telegraph remains as a broadsheet), it has always had a strong visual look and happily has in-depth articles.
it falls down on the internet side of things as you have to subscribe to be able to download articles from the site.
it is a paper that i enjoy reading.

fox news is owned by murdoch, it is so biased as to be not funny.
it demonstrates the fallacy of the freedom of the press like no other.

i know which one i trust, sadly i know which one has the most influence.

happy birthday to you both.
