review

you may be wondering what has happened to the reviews.
pressure of work has stopped them.
but work is clearing up. so guess what: the reviews return very soon. just as soon as i have done something to review.

oh ok one for jay and shep.

doom with the rock. dull and dumb. wait for it to be on itv in two years time. the rock had done such a great job in a very very very poor film "be cool" but he sort of shot himself in the foot with this one.
only watch if there is nothing else on, or you are with drunken mates.

I was sort of semi interested, will give it a swerve now.

Saw it a few weeks ago...

I loved Doom and all it's sequels when they were games - I have fond memories of playing Final Doom on the playstation for hours in a bedsit in Tooting, wondering why girls didn't fancy me. Ah happy days...

The film then started well, set up a nice Aliens type thingy...then...just awful - like Resident Evil 2 but without Milla. The Rock does his best, but in the end even the secretary-esque Rosamunde Pike didn't keep my interest.

The action bit at the end where you see it through the eyes like the game is silly too.

Shep, what's the doom game like? I think that was what I played at uni. One of my friends was addicted to it. He'd be up all night. I got pretty good but can't remember what it was called. That would have been 1992-3.

wasn't it shot on location in the east end?

Doom was a forerunner to Quake (probably the best of those kind of things). It was the second proper first-person shooter (3D Wolfenstein being the first). That means it was a throught the eyes wandering through corridors and caves blasting, picking up bigger and bigger weapons kindof thing. Baddies were mostly demons and other similar nasties. Duke Nukem 3D was another similar game that was even better as it had some great humour in it.
