giddy

been a bad day at work - but do you know what got me through it?
well first off there was the lingering pleasure of having watch two episodes from 24 day 4 - easily the best programme on tv that is not a steve bochco production (rip nypd blue..... boo hoo). then there was the arrival of the latest release in the marvel essential's line: the defenders. how i am looking forward to sitting on the enjoying one of nature's free pleasures and combining that with reading some great marvel comics. bliss i tell you - bliss.
but i suppose the think that is keeping me going most of all is the time 12.31am thursday morning when i will sit down and watch star wars revenge of the sith at my local cinema. i know it is not cool to admit it but i have enjoyed the previous two prequels and i fully expect to be wowed, thrilled and generally excited by the 6th and final star wars movie.
i just know it will be a (dare i say it) "brainblast!"

Given where I used to work and what I used to sell, it's probably not good to say this, but I really do not care as I see it as unimportant, I have not watched ANY Star Wars films, originals, prequels, whatever. I really do not get what all the fuss is about.

My eldest son (9) and I have tickets for Sunday at some Plymouth multiplex where they show it every half hour. I have long ago given up trying to explain to him the importance of the original trilogy. He says that the old movies are 'Sad'. And I, also, am 'sad'. He loved Phantom Menace and Attack Of The Clowns. I have learnt, as a parent, to indulge his little eccentricites. In this way, his children can be horrible to him when they extole the virtues of Episodes VII, VIII and IX, when the disembodied embalmed head of Lucas spews them out of his brain-hole in 2012.

He also complains at the shitty quality of the new toys. The Clone Trooper's head keeps falling off.

emma i think it is a boy thing to be honest. a little bit like yorkie bars it's not meant for girls.
ah how i remember going to see the first star wars movie at the odeon in leicester square. me and john (monty)hanley, we came out of the cinema agog, happy and dizzy. we made lightsaber noises all the way up regents street. it was there that the mont uttered the immortal word "BRAINBLAST" - a word that is only used to indicate that something is so wonderful that mere words can't do it justice....

how i remember waiting outside the harrow granada to see it again and again. how myself and adam would quote lines of the movie to each other.

it's a movie that reminds me of an innocent and happy time.

jay - tarantino is an ewok compared to lucas' wookie.

ooh i cna feel the force... or it could be a fart coming on.

cliff - ah if only episodes 7, 8 and 9 were to come out. bliss, joy and happiness.
again i remember reading the novelisations of the movies (back when such things were a rarity) and trying to piece together the back story that was destined to become the prequel trilogy.
happy days.

i have enjoyed phantom menace and attack of the clones (dude yoda kicks arse!) the hair on the back of my neck rose and i got all a tingle when the film started to roll the sounds of john williams score started. i watched them with the youthful enthusiasm that i had when i first saw them....

nice to know that i am still a child at heart - even if i am a miserable bastard of one.
