there i was reading a harlan coben book, “promise me” the other day. it is a modern hard boiled detective novel that treads the same path that robert crais does (and does better) in his elvis cole series of novels. coben assembles an interesting cast of characters, supplies a number of twists, an ample quantity of wisecracks and all at pace.
all in all a satisfying read and you are left wondering when will it be made into a series of movies?
in the middle of it all was the line: “man plans, god laughs”.
how very true.
(and for those of you who care it is a yiddish saying: man trakht un gott lacht.)
