first it was the headline in the mail on sunday. then it was a snippet on lbc radio. both were saying that thatcher was to get a state funeral.
how my heart sang!
she is dead.

turns out they are only planning on giving her a state funeral when she finally decides to shuffle off the mortal coil.

for a moment i was very happy and now i am not.
that was a cruel hoax to play.

rain

ah the rain has come. it makes it a truly british summer.
it was a nice break from the heat. i got wet, i felt happy and the clouds were great.
i even managed to step into some puddles.
all in all a good day.

twofer

boris, boris, boris....
two months in, two staff down.
not the best start in the world.

(you have to love the london evening standard though - they and their readers are quick to point out that is just be a smear campaign against ray lewis and boris, whereas the allegations against lee jasper (to the best of my knowledge nothing has been proved against him) and ken were serious journalism that was uncovering sleaze and corruption).

just perhaps the future is not so blue.

60th

happy birthday national health service, the nhs turns 60 this week.
for all the moaning that people do about the nhs it strikes me that we have a very good health service that makes sure that people have free access to care.
the few times i have had to use it i have only been happy with the outcomes.

here is hoping that i don't need to use it that much in the next 60 years of the nhs (mind you it probably won't be around once the conservatives get back into power).
